Texas Supreme Court Reverses Decision allowing Abortion: 31-year-old Kate Cox’s Case

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday evening reversed a judge’s decision to allow a pregnant woman to have an abortion. 31-year-old Kate Cox of Dallas is 20 weeks pregnant with a fetus that has a fatal condition.

A judge gave the woman permission to terminate the pregnancy on Thursday. American media like CNN write that the highest court has now put a stop to this.

Ken Paxton, the attorney general of Texas, had appealed the decision of the judge who authorized the abortion.

Texas has one of the strictest abortion laws in the United States. The procedure is only permitted in very specific cases, for example if the woman’s health is at risk.

According to American media, the fact that Cox was right in her case against the state of Texas was very exceptional.
