A Texas man is charged with first-degree murder and other additional charges after murdering his wife at a New Jersey hotel.
According to the Philadelphia Marshal Service, the subject killed the woman with a firearm in a room at the Days Inn hotel, located in Runnemede.
Last Wednesday, around 1:45 in the morning, police went to the scene and were greeted by a man who reported a shooting and theft of his car.
However, they decided to search the hotel and found the woman’s bloody body. Due to her gunshot wounds, she was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Iyv Morris, 30 years old.
Murder suspect arrested in Philadelphia
Steven Burgess, 38, born in Spring, Texas, was being sought by authorities as the main suspect in the murder of his wife.
Around 6:00 a.m. that same Wednesday, the man was arrested in a joint operation by sheriffs, a SWAT team, and New York investigators.
The capture occurred in the 4400 block of City Avenue, in Philadelphia. Now his extradition to New Jersey is expected, as it is the city where he committed the crime.
In addition to first-degree murder, investigations indicate that there could be additional charges.
