Texas has started to erect its own wall on the border with Mexico. This was announced Saturday by the Republican Governor of the State, Greg Abbott, denouncing the inaction of the Biden administration in the face of illegal immigration.
“Texas is taking what is truly an unprecedented step, [construire] a wall on our border to secure and safeguard the sovereignty of the United States as well as our own state, ”said the governor in front of a crane and steel bars. Action “necessary for one and only one reason: the Biden administration has failed to do its job.”
The Texas border wall is officially up.

Trump’s wall still lives
Greg Abbott also denounced the “deadly consequences” of Joe Biden’s policies. “This border wall […] is a replica of the border wall that President Trump erected, ”he added. “Same material, same concept. The construction of such a border wall was one of Donald Trump’s main campaign promises in 2016.
Long sections were built during his tenure but work was halted under Joe Biden. On Fox News, the governor of Texas explained that construction was going quickly in his state because it was currently taking place on land belonging to owners “who have […] fed up with the Biden administration ”.
The Democratic President’s government has come under heavy criticism for its handling of illegal immigration to the United States. The left criticizes the president for his harshness, and the right denounces what it considers laxity, which encourages foreigners to attempt the crossing.
