Immigration attorney Luis Gómez Alfaro agrees that perhaps TPS is not the best response to face the crisis.

“What is not right is that the government of Texas, the government of New York and the federal government cannot coordinate to deal with what is a regional situation, that is, beyond a problem in the United States.” said Gómez Alfaro.
With more than 200,000 job vacancies in different industries in the city, the lawyer says that TPS is financial relief to the New York State budget that is being used to offer housing and other free resources to immigrants.
“Migrants are needed, they are needed to be working and contributing to the city.”
