AUSTIN, Texas- Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for all 254 counties on Friday in response to severe winter conditions affecting Texas.

“Texas must heed the guidance of its local leaders and stay alert to changing weather conditions in its area. These resources will help us respond to this severe winter weather and keep our communities safe,” said the president.

Under the direction of the Governor, the Texas Division of Emergency Management has deployed the following state resources to support winter weather response operations:

- Texas Department of Transportation: winter weather road preparation team and response crews, as well as road condition monitoring.
- Texas Highway Patrol, Texas Department of Public Safety: The team will assist stranded drivers in major transit corridors.
- Texas Military Department: Winter weather equipment and personnel to support Amarillo, Wichita Falls, Abilene, Fort Worth and Waco to assist stranded driver operations.
- Texas Parks and Wildlife Department: staff to assist with stranded drivers in major travel corridors.
- Texas A&M Forest Service: staff to assist with snow or ice clearing and saw crews to assist with downed tree removal.
- Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, Texas Task Force 1: Search and rescue teams and teams.
- Texas Public Utility Commission: Monitoring and reporting of power outages and monitoring of any problem that affects the power generation capacity in the state.
- Texas Animal Health Commission: Response team and personnel to address concerns about livestock due to cold temperatures.
