Through a statement on the official Twitter account of the Houston Texans, it was revealed that their rookie player John Metchie lll, was diagnosed with leukemia.
Metchie revealed that he is receiving treatment for leukemia acute promyelocytic, “the most curable form”, and hopes to “recover later”.
“As a result of this diagnosis, he will likely not play football this season,” Metchie said. “My main focus will be on my health and recovery. I can’t wait to come back stronger than ever,” he wrote in the statement.

The leukemia Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is a unique subtype of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in which cells in the bone marrow that make blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets) do not develop or function normally, according to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
