Authorities laid the foundation stone of the future Teva i uta fire and rescue center on Thursday. The barracks will accommodate 11 permanent firefighters but must also become the training platform for firefighters in French Polynesia. Then they inaugurated a kindergarten in Papeari which will welcome up to 200 children, in 8 classes.
“Security of populations, education of children and quality of life, at the heart of the visit of the High Commissioner and the President” to Teva i uta this Thursday. The first step of this visit was the launch of the construction site of the future fire station of Teva i uta with several elected officials. The town’s firefighters present at the ceremony already provide 1,800 interventions per year. The premises of the future fire and rescue center will enable them to carry out the functions of “rescue to persons, firefighting and implementation of emergency plans such as municipal safeguard plans”. The barracks will also host the future training platform for firefighters from French Polynesia. It was the Intermunicipal Equalization Fund (FIP) and the municipality that financed the future barracks but also the new kindergarten whose inauguration followed.
A kindergarten for 200 pupils in Papeari
The elected municipal officials then welcomed the delegation to the new Papeari kindergarten for its inauguration. The establishment will have 8 classes from the toddler section to the older section, with a maximum capacity of 200 students. The school is named after Papeari’s first district chief in 1919, Choi Cheong Ah Min. He was also the first Polynesian named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1963. “as a former soldier of the mixed battalion of the Pacific engaged during the war of 14-18”.
Facilities for a better living environment in Titaviri
Finally, the delegation inaugurated a community center and a playground at the Titaviri residence built in 2008. These infrastructures must “improve the living environment and social cohesion of tenants“. This work was entirely financed by the country.
