Tether rejects rumors about creating its own blockchain

He CEO of TetherPaolo Ardoinoha refused in one post on that the firm behind USTD is planning to develop its propio blockchain. Ardoino clarified that Tether does not intend to create its own blockchain. He emphasized the company’s position by writing:

“Tether is not planning to build an official blockchain at this time.”

Tether, the issuer of USDT, the world’s largest stablecoin with a market capitalization of more than 120 billion dollarsoperates on more than ten blockchain networks. These include Ethereum, Solana, TON, Aptos and Algorand.

Why isn’t Tether launching a blockchain network?

Ardoino explained that Tether values “neutrality” and prefers not to centralize its operations through its own blockchain. Instead, the company focuses on support the integration of USDT into existing networksincluding support for gas rates.

Ardoino promoted Tether’s primary interest in partnerships with other companies and communities. He emphasized that the company’s mission is “Unstoppable TogETHER”aligning with a collaborative approach rather than trying to consolidate control under their chain.

Meanwhile, Ardoino did not rule out the possibility of launching a blockchain in the distant future. However, he noted that his statement was an attempt to “not exclude any possibility.”

Blockchain networks

Tether’s stance contrasts with a recent trend in the industry, where more companies are developing their own blockchain networks.

Centralized exchanges like Coinbase y Kraken have entered the space with their Ethereum layer 2 networks, Base e Inkrespectively. Similarly, the DeFi platform Uniswap presented its scaling solution, Unichainand the identity-focused cryptocurrency project World launched World Chain.

At the same time, other DeFi players such as Ghost They are exploring the development of networks tailored to their user communities.

It highlights challenges such as high infrastructure costs, fragmented liquidity, and limited support for developers, suggesting that these factors may inhibit widespread adoption of these proprietary networks.
