Tet launches the latest data center and plans to grow its data center business by 15% a year

Demand for data center services has been growing rapidly in recent years, and market forecasts suggest that this trend will continue in the future. According to a survey conducted by Norstat last year, more than 20% of Latvian companies that do not currently use data center services plan to start doing so, while according to Gartner forecasts, the most demanded cloud services in the world IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) will grow by 27%. Tet already exports 75% of its data center services and plans to grow its data center business turnover by an average of 15% per year in the coming years.

“Over the last 10 years, ICT has become one of Latvia’s TOP export industries, and it is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing in Latvia. The field of data center services is also constantly evolving, as evidenced by the increase in the use of cloud services among Latvian entrepreneurs – since 2018 it has doubled – and now 45% of companies already use cloud services, “says Uldis Tatarčuks, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Tet. “Tet’s data center market share in Latvia is 30%, and we are the most recognizable data center service provider, moreover, two thirds of data center services are exported,” UTatarčuks continues. The Tet Group’s export turnover in the first half of 2021 increased by 46% compared to the same period last year, reaching one-fifth of the total turnover. Integrated IT solutions, including data hosting services in data centers and in the cloud, are one of Tet’s most important export directions.

“Latvia’s exports in the first half of the year have grown by 20% compared to the previous year, and Tet has earned its own. I would like to thank the company for not only maintaining a stable position in the data processing market, but also successfully competing with global players such as Microsoft and Amazon, “Jānis Vitenbergs, the Minister of Economics of the Republic of Latvia, said at the opening event of Tet’s new data center.

One of Tet’s main export markets is Ukraine, where the company has been among the leaders in data center services for several years, competing with global players. “Tet’s market share in the Ukrainian data center market reached 8% in 2020. One of the reasons why Latvia has established productive and successful cooperation with Ukraine is also the support from the Latvian Embassy in Ukraine,” says U.Tatarčuks.

“In recent years, we have seen great positive dynamics in Latvian-Ukrainian relations. The Intergovernmental Commission, headed by the Minister of Economics, the Latvian Investment and Development Agency in Ukraine and Tet, is active. There is active air traffic between Latvia and Ukraine; “According to LIAA forecasts, Latvia’s exports to Ukraine will have grown by 10% by the end of the year. I hope that these figures will be even higher,” emphasizes the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikāns.

Tet opened its first data center with 20 racks in 2000 on Keldiša Street. At present, 400 racks will be available in six data centers. “The demand for data deployment is growing – on average 25-30 racks are filled in Tet data centers every year. Currently, two thirds of the available capacity is used, and in the only TIERIII certified data center in Latvia – Dattum even 87%. We forecast that in the future The turnover of Tet data centers will grow by an average of 15% per year, and we are already planning further development, “U.Tatarčuks.
