In recent days, several students at Korsgård school in Askim have tested positive for the coronavirus.

On Saturday evening, Indre Østfold municipality reports 23 new cases of infection, where a large part of the cases can be linked to the school.

The infection figures mean that the municipality is now calling in all students and teachers at the school for testing on Sunday.

– There are many students, employees, siblings and parents who are affected. That is why we are testing all students and staff at the school now. In addition, all employees and children in two kindergartens are called in for testing. In total, there are 506 people. They will be notified tonight, says communications manager Mimi Kopperud Slevigen in the municipality to NRK.

All students and teachers at the school are in quarantine and the rest of the household members are in quarantine until test results are available. The same applies to the two kindergartens.

– We remind you that students and kindergarten children who go to school or kindergarten with a red action level can not participate in leisure activities.

Ask residents to keep their distance

Slevigen in Indre Østfold comes at the same time as a clear appeal to the inhabitants of the municipality. If they do not reduce the infection in Askim, the municipality must consider shutting down.

– People must understand that they must keep their distance. That is what is troubling us now. We must have the help of the inhabitants to get the children and young people to stay in their cohort, also in their free time. They have too many close contacts. It is something that has recurred over time, she says.

At the same time, she understands that people in the municipality are starting to get impatient.

– It’s nice weather and people are pulling together. We fully understand that, but that is what we are most worried about right now, she says.

Got no to vaccinate youth

Due to the infection situation in Indre Østfold, the municipality sent an application to the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) to be allowed to vaccinate all graduating students earlier than planned.

They would use 550 vaccine doses on the Russians, of the total 1700 doses the municipality will receive in the coming week.

Men On Friday, FHI told NRK that it will not be relevant before the Russian era is really over.

– It will hardly be relevant, at least not before 17 May. It is only when we have vaccinated everyone down to 45 years that we will look at the order for those between 18 and 44 years, says chief physician Preben Aavitsland in FHI.
