On May 26, 2021, a new test center opened in downtown Bad Salzung. The whole thing was initiated by the city administration and the city councils in cooperation with the trade and industry association and the support association “Never give up”.
It only took a few weeks for the new test center in downtown Bad Salzungen to be completed. It was set in motion by Mayor Klaus Bohl and the honorary First Alderman Dieter Meinel.
The Bad Salzungen Trade and Industry Association also contacted the city administration shortly afterwards on this matter.
The idea behind it was to be prepared for the time when the incidence values drop and shopping in Bad Salzungen will be possible again. Because at this time the demand for tests will especially increase. This is the case now. The Wartburg district reported an incidence value of 88 on May 26, 2021. The test center opened at the right time on that day.
“After a long time there is light at the end of the tunnel, things are going uphill again. The whole of society has suffered and is still suffering from the pandemic. In our city too, ”he explained
Mayor at the opening of the center.
“I was a retailer myself and I know what it is like to send your employees home or to have to pay off the loan despite all adversities. The shops can finally reopen. We therefore expect an increased demand for tests, which the “Café mit Herz” and the general practitioners in the city center cannot cope with. “
For this reason, Bohl turned to the city council a few weeks ago and asked for quick, unbureaucratic help.
The vacant toy store was proposed as a possible location for a new test center and was approved by the city council shortly afterwards on April 14, 2021. The building was made available by the Gewog.
The trade and business association rented it until December 31, 2021 and will also bear the rental costs. Thus, the city budget is not burdened. The sponsoring association “Never give up” eV is the operator of the test center.
The city supports the test center by having the building yard prepare the building and loan furniture. In the Friends’ Association, the city administration has found a committed partner who will carry out the tests. The association has been offering tests in the “Café with a Heart” for a few weeks now.
Günther Schwarze, the association’s board member, said at the opening on May 26th:
“We will keep doing this as long as it is necessary. But of course we will also continue our actual work and be there for the people who need our help. “
The new test center can be found in the former toy shop at Michaelisstrasse 10, directly in the city center of Bad Salzungen. It is opposite Nappenplatz, which has parking spaces and a bus stop.
The center is open seven days a week: Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Spit tests are offered for children.
“We would like to specifically respond to the needs of families,” said Andreas Schlegel, board member of the trade and trade association. “We are grateful that our idea came across planning by the city administration that has already started.
From now on, shopping in our city is possible again with few restrictions. Our retailers also make shopping by appointment, the Click & Meet, possible at short notice. “
