In a dramatic twist to the ongoing legal battle surrounding Georgia prosecutor Fani Willis, former law firm partner Terrance Bradley took the stand on Tuesday to shed light on Willis’ alleged romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade. Bradley’s testimony, given under oath, provided insight into the timeline and nature of their relationship, leaving many questioning the credibility of both individuals involved.
Bradley’s testimony came after Judge Scott McAfee ruled that he couldn’t claim attorney-client privilege, forcing him to provide answers to key questions regarding his knowledge of the relationship between Wade and Willis. Willis’ father, John C. Floyd III, confirmed earlier this month that he taught his daughter to keep large amounts of cash on hand, which she used to reimburse Wade for luxury trips. This reimbursement method explains the lack of payment records.
The defense team, led by Ashleigh Merchant, is attempting to prove that Willis and Wade’s relationship predated Wade’s employment in the district attorney’s office. Both Willis and Wade maintain that their relationship began in 2022, after Wade was hired. However, Robin Yeartie, a former friend of Willis and past employee at the DA’s office, testified that she witnessed their romantic involvement starting in 2019. She claimed to have seen them engage in affectionate acts such as hugging and kissing.
Yeartie’s testimony contradicted Willis’ version of events, leading to a heated exchange between the two in the courtroom. Willis dismissed Yeartie’s claims and stated that she no longer considers her a friend.
The proceedings took an unexpected turn when Willis herself took the stand to testify. Described by one expert as “belligerent,” Willis engaged in verbal sparring with the lawyers for hours. At one point, her behavior prompted the judge to threaten to strike her testimony. Additionally, her choice of attire raised eyebrows, as she appeared to be wearing her dress backward.
As the evidentiary hearings draw to a close, both sides will present their final arguments on Friday. The defense team aims to establish a money trail that proves Willis had a conflict of interest in the case against Trump, leading to her disqualification.
