JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Name Freddy Budiman indeed no stranger to the people of Indonesia. Freddy Budiman is known as a drug kingpin who was executed in Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap, Central Java, on July 29, 2016.

Freddy was repeatedly caught in drug trafficking cases. Freddy is even known as one of the big drug dealers in Indonesia with an international class network.

He was sentenced to death by the Panel of Judges at the West Jakarta District Court for importing 1,412,476 ecstasy pills from China in May 2012.

Freddy was also arrested in 2009 for possessing 500 grams of crystal methamphetamine. At that time, he was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months.

Feddy returned to dealing with the authorities in 2011. At that time, he was caught in possession of hundreds of grams of crystal methamphetamine and ingredients for ecstasy. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison for a drug case in Sumatra and served his prison term at Cipinang Prison.

One of Freddy Budiman’s children, Fikri, told of the last seconds before his father was executed in Nusakambangan Prison.

Fikri gave his testimony through a video with Gritte Agatha on Youtube Gritte. The video will be broadcast on March 17, 2021.

In the video that lasted more than an hour, Fikri said he only learned about the news of his father’s execution on July 25, 2016 or 4 days before the execution.

Fikri and three other members of Freddy’s family went straight to Nusakambangan Prison, Cilacap on July 26, 2016. On July 27, 2016, Fikri was still able to meet his father. There, Freddy spent time with his child, from eating to congregational prayer.

Freddy even expressed his desire to go to the United States because he knew that Fikri had visited this superpower in 2014. However, Freddy never discussed the drug trafficking case that ensnared him in front of his son.

He only advised the child to stay away from these illicit items. He also wanted to see Fikri continue his studies and become an entrepreneur.

On July 28, 2016 or the day before the execution, Freddy was still allowed to meet his son and three other family members. Again, Freddy never discussed the drug case that caught him.

Freddy only spent the rest of his time praying in congregation with his child, eating together, reciting the Koran, and telling stories about the child’s personal life. The day before the execution, Freddy had asked the officers of the Nusakambangan prison to sleep with Fikri in his private room.

However, Freddy’s request was rejected by officers because he was feared that it would disturb Fikri’s psychology.

On July 29, 2016 or the day of his execution, Freddy was still given the opportunity to meet Fikri. At that time, Freddy told Fikri to be a strong man and be able to fight for his life.

“Papa’s message at that time was that Dede (Fikri) could cry as much as possible, after my father’s absence, after Dede left the prison (LP Nusakambangan), he became a strong man, so a man who is mentally strong and can fight in his life. , “said Fikri.

Approaching Maghrib, the Nusakambangan Prison officer informed that visiting hours had run out. However, Freddy asked the officers for additional time because he wanted to perform the evening prayer in congregation with his son.

“Before the maghrib prayer, the officer came and asked,” sir, sorry the time is over. “At that time my father still didn’t want to, (Freddy said)” I asked for the evening prayer “, was allowed (by the officer),” said Fikri.

During the evening prayer in congregation with the child, Freddy, as usual, acted as a priest. After the prayer, Freddy had time to pray and convey his wishes to God.

“The evening prayer was led by him (Freddy), after the prayer he led the prayer, what was his wish. After praying, I hugged my father and cried,” continued Fikri.

Freddy also conveyed his last message as a father to Fikri. He instructed Fikri to take care of his sisters and continue to fight to be a successful person.

“Papa held both my cheeks, papa said,” daddy go, please take care of his younger siblings. You can be a successful person, because papa knows that you are a strong person. Remember dad’s message, after leaving here, there’s no more sadness, “” said Fikri.

Freddy was then executed on July 29, 2016 at around 20.00 WIB. He ordered to give the clothes he was wearing at the execution to Fikri. He was then buried in Surabaya, East Java.
