When should I get tested? When should I be quarantined? And what is the difference between quarantine and isolation? It is not clear to everyone. That is why the FPS Public Health has drawn up a diagram, which we turned into a handy test!

The FPS Public Health receives a lot of questions from people who doubt when they should go into quarantine, what the difference is with isolation and when they should now have themselves tested. That is why the FPS drew up a diagram that clearly shows people what to do and when. The test below was established on the basis of that diagram.
What is the difference between Quarantine and Isolation?
Quarantine
If someone you had close contact with has tested positive for COVID-19 (= you are a high-risk contact), you should be quarantined. This will take 10 days from the last contact you had with the infected person or until you get the negative results of your test. You can be infected and stay at home without receiving visitors. Exceptions apply to healthcare personnel and order & security personnel. After your quarantine you have to be extra careful for another 4 days.
Insulation
You have to be in isolation for a positive COVID-19 test. Your isolation lasts a minimum of 7 days, from the start of your complaints. You may only go out of isolation when you have no longer a fever for 3 days and your complaints have clearly improved. You are considered “contagious”.
THIS IS IT. How long will you stay infected with the corona virus?
THIS IS IT. That is why it is better to stay “in your room”: the corona virus spreads that quickly
