TEST | Redmi Note 8 Pro after 9 months. If you have 700 zlotys, you will not buy anything better

Is it worth buying Redmi Note 8 Pro in 2020? I checked it out using it as a private smartphone for over 9 months. It is still the best smartphone you can buy if you have 700 zlotys in your pocket.

Redmi Note 8 Pro it is a complete medium and in September 2020 it is still just as worth buying as at the time of release. Now that it has cheaper and is featured frequently on promotions, it has one of the best value for money on the market. I’ve been using it for 9 months now and say if it’s worth buying. Spoiler: gods, still how!

Let’s start with the prices – what is the situation in the stores?

I would definitely recommend buying it in China. You can save almost PLN 300. An alternative is to look for a used copy in good condition, which you can easily find in Poland for similar money.

Nice and durable smartphone

Now that we have established that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is worth the amount you have to pay for it, it has to be said why you should actually buy it at the end of 2020. In terms of the housing, nothing has changed since I wrote my opinion about this model after 3 months of use. The smartphone fits perfectly – it is two glass panes connected by a plastic frame.

My copy has stood the test of time – apart from a crack in the corner of the screen, there are no scratches on it, nothing has loosened, none of the elements creak. Durability deserves a big plus, and the crack was entirely the fault of the user – hardly any smartphone would survive contact with concrete from a height of almost 2 meters. And so fate spared me.

The frames surrounding the screen are no longer the thinnest ones, but almost a year after its premiere, Redmi Note 8 Pro still looks good. In the blue color version, the back panel refracts the light nicely, which can be seen in the cover photo. The cameras stick out of the housing, but after using the transparent case included in the set, they hide completely and the smartphone on the table does not wobble to the sides. On the plus side there is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the bottom edge and a USB-C port.

Redmi Note 8 Pro offers a fingerprint reader on the rear panel and it must be admitted that it is a much better scanner than the one found in the newer one Realme 6 Pro. It is fast and accurate and there are hardly any times when you need to put your finger on it again. After updating to MIUI 12, the smartphone wants to unlock because of the beautiful live wallpapers.

Performance and MIUI 12 are a feast for the eyes

Another thing – since we are at the system, this one has recently received an update to MIUI 12. It brought changes both visual and “under the hood”. The interface is very much like iOS, which can be a downside – or an advantage. It does not bother me, because I have already liked the Xiaomi overlay. It is impossible to stick to action, and the annual average it is still in the top ten of AnTuTu!

The smartphone works on MediaTek G90T, has 6 GB RAM and 64 or 128 GB of space for user data. Such a set works perfectly every day and there is absolutely no question of any delays. Android is not running smoothly after a long time? Please, this copy has not been reset in 9 months, has over 100 installed applications, and works just like out of the box.

If you want a comparison, it works incomparably better than that Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Litewhich also has 6 GB RAM and a theoretically more efficient processor. It is similar in terms of speed Realme 6 Probut this one is much more expensive and has a 90Hz screen so it’s hard to compare them one to one. 8 GB RAM does its job too. Redmi Note 8 Pro is also suitable for gaming – it will easily pull all the games you currently find in the app store.

The battery is excellent and the camera can do a lot

We have two more issues left. The first is the battery, which is one of the device’s greatest advantages – and that’s quite an achievement. The cell has a capacity of 4500 mAh and is enough for one day of very intensive use, reaching 7 to 8 hours with the screen on. If you do not spend most of the day with the phone in your hand, you will reach for the quite fast – 18 W – charger every other day.

There is still a camera. This one has 64 MP, is accompanied by a wide angle and two additional sensors, which I used sporadically during these 9 months. Both perform well, but the wide-angle mode at night is unlikely to live up to 2020 standards. There is more than good during the day. With the help of Redmi Note 8 Pro, you can also take quite successful portraits – both with the selfie camera and the main one.

So is Redmi Note 8 Pro this the best smartphone up to a thousand zlotys? A month ago, I would have written yes without hesitation. However, the prime minister’s situation changed POCO X3 NFC, which costs PLN 999, and the advantages of Note 8 Pro also include a 120 Hz screen. However, if you have about 700 zlotys to spend, I would not hesitate too much – Redmi Note 8 Pro is a good smartphone that can be used for many months.

These smartphones up to PLN 1,000 are worth buying – they are worth the price!
