Test panel: experience the most important innovations of the Samsung S22 & S22 Ultra – Tablets and phones – .Plans

It will not have escaped the notice of the average tweaker: Samsung has recently unveiled its new Galaxy S22 series. There don’t seem to be any major changes compared to the S21, but there are differences under the hood. Tweakers Partners and Samsung have joined forces for a test panel. Four tweakers can get started with the S22 and four tweakers can focus on the S22 Ultra. Wondering whether the new smartphones will take your mobile experience to the next level? Then sign up for the test panel under this article.

Even though the colors are slightly different again, it will be quite difficult at first sight this year to choose the Samsung Galaxy S22– and S21 smartphones outwardly distinguishable from each other. The design has remained almost the same, although the round edges have been exchanged for flat(er) edges and the backs are now made of glass instead of plastic. The QHD screen is slightly smaller; with the S22 it has gone from 6.2 to 6.1 inches. All three S22 phones are dust and water resistant, and have a 120Hz refresh rate screen.

The design of the S22 Ultra is quite different though. The device has a somewhat angular shape, which makes it more like a Galaxy Note than the S21. The cameras are hidden in the phone, instead of on a camera island. Victus Gorilla Glass is used on both the front and back and the screen is brighter than that of the S21 Ultra. Another Note addition to the S22 Ultra is the ability to carry the included S-Pen in the phone for the first time. It has a latency of 2.8 milliseconds instead of 9 milliseconds, so it is more than three times faster than its predecessors. This should give the user the feeling that he is writing smoothly with an ordinary pen. No more hassle with paper notes; you always have a fully digital notepad at hand.

battery life

Because the Galaxy S22 (just like the S22 Plus) is slightly smaller, it has slightly less battery capacity than its predecessor(s): 4000mAh for the S21 against 3700mAh for the S22 (and 4800mAh for the S21 Plus compared to 4500mAh for the S22 Plus) . According to Samsung, the renewed Exynos 2200 processor should be more energy-efficient, so that the consumer is not bothered by the smaller battery capacity. The S22 Ultra has remained almost the same size and still has a 5000mAh battery. However, the device can now charge quickly with 45W, instead of the 25W with the S21 Ultra. This means that the battery of the S22 Ultra is half charged in twenty minutes. So you don’t have to sit with an empty battery for long.

Cameras on the S22 and S22 Ultra

In terms of camera setup, the S22 (Plus) this year features a new 50-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel sensor with a stabilized telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle lens. The S22 Ultra retains the same cameras as the S21 Ultra, with a 108-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom. With 100x Space Zoom you should even be able to get a beautiful close-up of the full moon. The new processor ensures that the phones can process more data than the previous models.

According to Samsung, this should provide sharper and brighter photos in the evening and night, but also during the day, in places where there is little (sun) light. Now that the catering industry and clubs are allowed to open again until the late hours, it is nice if you can capture your unforgettable, nighttime adventures without loss of quality.

Also in daylight the quality of the photos should be a bit better. The artificial bokeh effect in portrait mode has been improved so that the device can accurately distinguish you from the background, and pets are also better recognized. Thanks to Video Stabilization, you can shoot videos with scenes that smoothly merge into each other in both bright and low light, Samsung promises. Finally, the 40-megapixel selfie camera promises the best self-portraits, thanks to new Adaptive Pixel and Authentic Portrait techniques.
