iPhone 12 mini is it latest addition to the iPhone family.
Since Apple started with big phones, there have been rumors of a mini-version, and it feels natural that there is now something at the opposite end of the scale for iPhone 12 Pro Max.
But the deaf as small as it is. Now I do prefer as large a screen as possible, so that probably makes it feel extra mini. Just as it was a change to go from big to small, it is an equally big change to go back again. Typing with smaller keys in particular has been a major challenge.

–However, the 5.4 “screen is incredibly handy. We can stretch the thumb over the entire screen without having to change grips. It fits nicely into the trouser pocket. The same cannot be said for the Max model.
And it’s easy! 133 grams versus 226 grams on the giant 12 Pro Max is experienced very differently.
iPhone 12 in smaller suit
It is true that the Max model the mini is not to be compared with. It is most closely related to the slightly larger standard version iPhone 12 with 6.1 “screen.
In fact, the two share many of the same features: they have the same new design with a glass back and aluminum frames. Nice, even though the glass attracts more dirt and fingerprints than the aluminum backs of the Pro models.
They both have fantastic OLED screens, albeit without a faster 120 Hz refresh rate, and perhaps most importantly: the same good dual camera on the back, which takes very good pictures and supports night mode. On video, the iPhone 12 models are extremely good.
The performance of the new A14 processor is also nothing to speak of, and the mini also supports faster mobile surfing over the 5G network (although we have not yet been to a place where we can try it yet).
Since they are so similar, read ours thorough testing of iPhone 12 to find out more about how they are used.
Weaker battery life
Besides the size, there is one important thing that separates the iPhone 12 from the iPhone 12 mini: the battery.
Apple does not provide specifications, but according to a “teardown” from Ifixit iPhone 12 mini has a battery of 2227 mAh against the 12’s 2815 mAh. It is admittedly more than the iPhone SE with its 1821 mAh, but a good distance away from the iPhone 12 Pro Max at 3687 mAh.
Admittedly, one should not look blindly at numbers. The Max model, for example, has a larger and more high-resolution screen, which is more power-intensive – and it is in such cases that we talk about the gain going up in the spinning.
But what does that mean in practice? As always, actual battery life depends on usage.
Personally, I do not get 12 mini to last the day – but then I have a screen time that is well above average.
However, we see other reviewers have roughly the same experience, and the general opinion seems to be that this is a phone you will probably have to plug in the charger when you go to bed.
An (unintentional) consequence of small screen? On the other hand, I have used the phone less during the test period. Usually I use my smartphone to check email, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter especially during the workday, but because I have struggled to get used to the smaller screen, I have often resorted to the laptop Mac instead. .
Conclusion
Earlier this year, Apple released a new version of the smaller iPhone model, the iPhone SE. “The dream mobile for you who do not want a big smartphone”, we wrote in our test. A dream price too, of 5490 kroner.
iPhone 12 mini is even smaller again. But a lot more expensive, with a starting price of 8990 kroner for the 64 GB version.
But where Apple has equipped the iPhone SE with an old processor and weaker cameras, the iPhone 12 mini is just a shrunken version of this year’s top model iPhone 12. A genuine compact top model whose only compromise is weaker battery life. If you can live with the latter, we do not think there are better options in this size.

– Apple has a tradition of updating the phones with new features for 5-6 years
– Very good image quality on the screen…
–
-… but still only 60 Hz
– No inward zoom
– Weaker battery life than the larger version
– Not so fast charging either with cable or wireless
– No one charges in the box
