Test Achats files a complaint with the FPS Public Health against five sunscreens

Test Achats has filed a complaint with the FPS Public Health against five sunscreen products which do not respect the promised protection, the consumer defense organization said in a press release on Monday.

Test Achats analyzed 16 sunscreens: 10 products with a protection factor (Sun Protection Factor, SPF) of 50/50+ and six SPF 30 products. Among all the lotions and sprays screened, two do not respect the protection promised against UVB rays, responsible for sunburn and skin cancer. These are the Isdin gel cream SPF 30, which actually only has an SPF 15, and the Clinique Mineral suncream SPF 30 lotion, which only offers an SPF 10.

The Clinique Mineral suncream SPF 30 lotion also does not respect the promised protection against UVA rays, responsible for skin aging and also skin cancer, points out the organization. She also points out the insufficient protection against UVA rays offered by the SPF50+ cream with fragrance from the Zwitsal brand, intended for children.
