Tess Olofsson selected for the soccer world cup

Tess Olofsson, 34, has regularly refereed matches in Sweden for women’s and men’s teams. She made her championship debut in the EC this summer and now comes the next happy news for the judge. Olofsson has been selected for this summer’s soccer World Cup.

– It was a nervous and long wait for the announcement to arrive and now I am mostly relieved and extremely happy to have been selected. I found out three years ago that I’m a World Cup candidate, but nothing is certain until it becomes clear, he tells the Swedish Football Association website.

Swedish only

She is one of 33 judges selected for the championship and will be the only Swedish judge present on site.

– It would have been a dream to go on this time and maybe have the opportunity to fight for a final match. But I am fully aware that I am a “new referee” in these contexts, even though I have refereed football for 22 years. There’s a lot of competition and you have to be patient, says Olofsson.

The championship, which takes place in Australia and New Zealand, will be played between July 20 and August 20.
