As a promo for a guest appearance by Elon Musk on a television show, Tesla has had the Cybertruck drive through the streets of New York.

It had been a while since Tesla’s Cybertruck had made another public appearance. After the legendary performance in November 2019 in which a Tesla engineer accidentally smashed a window (be sure to look up the images on YouTube if you haven’t seen them yet), the armored car has hardly been seen in public. Until last Saturday a Cybertruck suddenly drove through the streets of Manhattan in New York.
Cybertruck shows up in New York
Cybertruck’s appearance was part of a Tesla publicity stunt. CEO Elon Musk was seen as a guest presenter on Saturday Night Live, an iconic entertainment show in the United States. Although Tesla was only briefly featured during the broadcast, Tesla seemed to like the idea of having the Cybertruck travel to The Big Apple with Musk. Photos of the Cybertruck passing famous places such as Times Square went around happily on social media. On Sunday, the New Yorkers could also view the car in the Tesla showroom in New York.

It is still a prototype of the Cybertruck, as this car has not yet gone into production. This will not be possible until the Gigafactory in Texas is ready. According to Tesla’s schedule, this should be possible from the end of this year, so that deliveries can start in 2022. The armored car has been pre-ordered hundreds of thousands of times.
