Rescuers from Austria had to fish out a Tesla Model X from Lake Traunsee three days ago, which its owner had put into the body of water by hand.
As the Gmunden police representative told the media, on October 21, the 45-year-old driver with his Tesla, which had an activated autopilot, went on the Traunsteina street towards the Traunsteina turning area, when the system indicated suddenly an obstacle in the middle of the road.
According to the driver, the electric car applied emergency braking, but there was no obstacle on the road. In the next moment, the car quickly increased its speed, which frightened the driver. He turned the steering wheel to the right and the car fell into the lake after crossing a narrow strip of green field.
Fortunately, the driver was able to get out of the sinking electric car and reach the shore under his own power.
Fire service divers found the Tesla at a depth of around five meters and brought it to the surface after several hours of rescue operations.
