Some may have the front boot open on the move, while others may not have the rear camera activated
The American company Tesla is withdrawing 475 thousand electric cars due to a problem with the front trunk, which can be opened while driving, and malfunctions in the rear view camera, BGNES reports, citing documents published by the US National Road Administration.
According to the information, more than 356 thousand Model 3 and more than 119 thousand Model S are subject to withdrawal. The year of car production varies from 2014 to 2021, depending on the model. It is not clear which countries are affected by this decision.
The regulator claims that the malfunction of the Model 3 cars is due to possible damage to the wiring of the rear view camera when closing the rear trunk, which may interfere with the signal from the camera sent to the monitor. Defects in Model S sedans can be caused by damage to the front boot locking system. According to the regulator, this defect can lead to the opening of the trunk while driving.
It is noted that free replacement of defective parts will be possible in the company’s service centers.
