Tesla with 88,000 deliveries in Q1 / 20 above expectations> teslamag.de

In order to reach the prospect of a new record of at least 500,000 deliveries this year, the figures now announced by Tesla for the first quarter of 2020 will not be sufficient. But in view of the corona virus crisis, they were significantly above the – previously lowered – expectations, so that the stock skyrocketed on Thursday after trading: Overall, Tesla delivered 88,400 of its electric cars from January to March.

Production almost at Q4 / 19 level

102,672 Model 3, Model S and Model X were produced in the same period – and already Model Y, Tesla said. This is only a slight decline compared to the record figure of almost 105,000 Teslas produced in the final quarter of 2019. The production of electric cars in Fremont had to be interrupted in the third week of March. In the Gigafactory in China, work stopped because of the corona virus in early February, but has long since been resumed. The production in Shanghai was said to have set new records despite significant setbacks.

Tesla released its production and delivery numbers on Thursday after the market closed after the stock dropped another 5 percent to $ 450 in regular trading. In the first 45 minutes after the announcement, the Tesla share shot up a good 10 percent and surpassed the $ 500 mark again.

Tesla: Best first quarter so far

There was some confusion over the question of whether Tesla has now met or failed to meet the expectations of the stock market with the figures it has now reported. A report from Reuters reported that over 93,000 Teslas were delivered as an average forecast, but earlier reports indicated that not all analysts had already included the corona disruptions. Bloomberg wrote that analysts had most recently expected 78,000 Tesla deliveries. The reaction of the exchange suggests that this number was more accurate.

According to Tesla, the first quarter of 2020 was the one with the best performance ever in terms of deliveries and production. According to information from Model 3 and Model Y, 76,200 were handed over to customers and around 87,300 were produced, Model S and Model X delivered 12,200 and 15,400 were built.
