Tesla will start semi-truck delivery this year and Cybertruck will follow in 2023 – Image and sound – News

800 km is enough to drive from Maastricht to Groningen city, and back again.

Especially in these times it makes great sense for transport for national journeys to drive electrically… provided there is a truck with a decent distance like this one.

I have no idea how this Tesla truck is loaded, but I can imagine that the logistics sector has more possibilities to use faster loading techniques than private individuals. From a different battery design for larger parallel charging, to much more powerful charging stations.

Even maybe returning the hot-swappable battery for the logistics sector wouldn’t be so stupid.
This did not work for the private sector, because Tesla could no longer guarantee that your battery would be as healthy as your original battery.
But logistics are much less affected by this, because there are contract models, with which Tesla basically leases the batteries, and only has to guarantee that with a given battery, picked up at a given pick-up point, the truck will reach its next destination.
Transport routes are also almost always the same, so it would be more cost-effective for Tesla to install battery exchange points.

In addition, the price of electricity is more stable than that of oil. At least you’re not dependent on pipelines running through countries that are unstable. And the electricity network is much larger and therefore more robust (in worst cases, we import nuclear power from France, or hydropower from Norway, if another country threatens us). Plus your transportation costs are unaffected by OPEC and all the speculators.
