I understand these kinds of prices for the absolute top in terms of technology, it is bizarre what Tesla is able to achieve on a technical level. It just depends on what you focus on and what is important to you.
What you should also not forget is that there is not 1 Tesla, there are different models, of which models are known to have finishing issues. Quality is high and with regard to the use of materials, it again depends on which model you buy.
If you are going to compare a Model 3 with the market, you can indeed say that the finish and use of materials is substandard (a lot of plastic, for example) compared to the competition, but that is logical given the price of the car is so low that savings have to be made somewhere and no concessions are made to the technology.
However, if you pick up a Model S to do that comparison, you bathe in luxury compared to the rest of the market with leather trim on the dashboard, seats etc., aluminum edges and ventilation. Compare it to a recent car of the oh-so-praised German quality and you’ll see that those Germans are just plastic these days.
Conclusion, it totally depends on your attitude and what you focus on. I also don’t justify anything and do not claim that there are no problems, it is true that around Tesla mainly polarizing people hang out, a lot of unjustified hatred and on the other hand also a lot of unjustified fans. I prefer to approach it factually and then you end up somewhere in the middle. Nuance is everything.
