In Norway, a court sentenced Tesla to pay the owners of American electric cars at $ 16 thousand. This was reported by Electrek. According to them, the reason for the court decision is the too slow charging of the batteries in the cars of the Supercharger stations after the software update. In addition, drivers also complain about the reduction in the autonomous mileage of their electric cars.
So far we are talking only about Tesla Model S and Model X, which are equipped with a battery of 85 kilowatt hours. As one of the owners of Tesla, manufactured in 2014, told the publication, initially his car could travel 397 kilometers on a single charge. After the update, the driver claims that this figure has dropped to 349 kilometers.
A Tesla spokesman said one of the goals of the upgrade program was “to protect the battery and increase its life.” According to him, this is what has led to a reduction in autonomous mileage. He added that the problem only affects “a small percentage of owners” of Tesla electric cars.
There are currently about 10,000 owners of American electric cars in Norway. Whether Tesla will appeal the court’s decision is still unknown. It should also be noted that to date, similar claims have been heard by courts in other countries.
