Tesla will invest in Indonesia, Bahlil: God willing, it’s 2022

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said, Foxconn and Tesla Inc. is planned to invest in Indonesia this year. The Batang Industrial Estate (KIB) in Central Java, continued Bahlil, will be the location for investment Foxconn and Tesla were built later.

“We know that Central Java will become the center of one of the best industrial areas in Indonesia, namely in Batang. There, there will be big companies such as LG, Foxconn, then Tesla too, God willing, including several other companies,” he said virtually, Wednesday (18/5/2022).

“When asked when (Tesla’s investment) will enter, God willing, it will be 2022. But I can’t announce the month yet. Because we haven’t signed the agreement yet,” he continued.

There are two forms of investment that will be invested by Elon Musk as the owner or CEO of the largest electric car production company from the United States (US).

“Insha Allah, Tesla will enter Indonesia. He will enter into two major investments, the first is about the car battery ecosystem. The second is the car,” he said.

Regarding the investment value that will be deposited by Elon, Bahlil has not been able to mention. Because the agreement has not yet been signed. “How much is the investment value, is still a secret. But this item is good stuff, big stuff,” he said.

On May 14, 2022, Indonesian President Joko Widodo met with the CEO of Tesla Inc, as well as the founder of Space X, Elon Musk in Boca Chica, United States (US). For approximately 1 hour, Jokowi was invited by Elon to tour the Space X facilities.

From the meeting, the Head of State invited the richest person in the world to come to Indonesia. Elon responded to the invitation and made an effort in November this year, he would visit Indonesia.
