The rumors that have been circulating in the automotive world for over a year are likely to be confirmed. According to its executive vice president Liana Yubo, the Chinese company BYD is very close to the agreement with Tesla, which is supposed to start supplying its batteries later this year.
–
So far, there are no details about the agreement between the Chinese and American companies, but it can be assumed that Tesla will be interested in batteries with Blade and CTP (cell-to-pack).
–
The question remains whether BYD will also supply its latest CTB (cell-tto-body) technology to the USA, ie a structural battery system that the company will use in its own Seal electric car.
–
Tesla currently uses several different suppliers of batteries for its electric cars, as well as for the supply of other components.
–
The agreement with BYD would thus further increase the competitive environment. According to experts, this also means that the Chinese company quickly reached a high technological level, which also affected Tesla founder Elon Musek.
–
At the same time, by adding another supplier from the Far East, the Americans will improve their bargaining position in pricing policy and in the volume of deliveries with their existing supplier CATL, which is also one of the leading technology companies in China.
