Tesla Battery Day announcements they impressed everyone a little and in particular they impressed a lot the new 4680 cells which will allow the American manufacturer to significantly increase autonomy of its electric cars. Improvements in the order of 16% thanks to the new cell design alone. A value that rises to 30% using the battery pack as a structural element of the cars. Thanks to the future development of cell chemistry, Tesla is aiming for an overall improvement in autonomy of 54%. Cells that Elon Musk’s company intends to produce directly even if at first it will rely on its partners. Panasonic, for example, has already made it known that will develop 4680 cells for Tesla batteries.
Now, the American manufacturer has released a brief video showing the structure of the battery pack containing the future 4680 cells. Furthermore, some phases of the construction of the cells can be seen along the pilot production line present inside the Gigafactory in Fremont where work is being done to perfect the production process. Very short movie but certainly interesting.
This video is present on a page of the Tesla website where the manufacturer has inserted a sort of job advertisement aimed at figures who have specific skills in the battery sector. In fact, Elon Musk’s company is looking for hundreds of new employees to accelerate the production of cells to be used in batteries of its electric cars.
