The cybertruck from Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) is one of the most anticipated vehicles in the recent past. The unconventional, triangular pickup was introduced in 2019 and the first deliveries were planned for the end of 2021.
If things go right, Tesla could be ahead of schedule.
Should Investors Sell Right Now? Or is it worth joining Tesla?
What happened
The Cybertruck is slated to be built at Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas, which is under construction in Austin, Texas. While that factory is still under construction, sources have told Tesmanian that Tesla is building a small pilot cybertruck production line at the company’s facility in Fremont, California.
Additionally, employees working on that line were asked to prepare to move to Texas in June to start work. This could mean that the first test batches of the Cybertruck could be produced as early as the third quarter, with the first customer or employee vehicles possibly going into production in the same quarter.
Why it matters
This will allow Tesla to plan out all the details of how the line will work, which will save time before production begins at Gigafactory Texas.

Tesla will then have a trained team of experts on the Cybertruck production line that can be sent to Gigafactory Texas to begin production once the equipment is on site.
Tesla and CEO Elon Musk are known for being behind on deadlines. Nevertheless, the Model Y surprised with the start of deliveries in spring 2020 compared to an expected release date in autumn 2020.
Could we see a similar surprise with the Cybertruck, with a small number of first deliveries and a larger ramp-up at the end of 2021?
