One of the Tesla Semis was recently spotted driving through the Donner pass in California, easily passing other Class 8 semis. Twitter user Zanegler (@HinrichsZane), who shared the new videos as you can see below, adds that the Tesla is testing some fully loaded Semi vehicles to see if there are any reliability issues.
I had some thoughts about how to (safely) capture some video of the Tesla Semi vs diesel semi’s going up a steep grade. The average grade ascending the Donner Pass is 7% up to 16%. The range will be up to 800 km
The question is how such acceleration up steep hills will affect the range, which should reportedly reach up to 800 km in ideal conditions. But the Tesla Semi could also be interesting from the point of view of charging, with a power of up to 1 MW being speculated, which would mean charging a range of 400 miles (644 km) in just 30 minutes.
