In a report to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the automaker specified that the screens can remain blank for up to eight seconds after the driver engages reverse gear. The United States requires the screens to be activated within two seconds of going backwards. Tesla has released a free software update to fix the problem, the agency said Reuters.
Tesla began selling its Cybertruck pickup truck last November, with a two-year delay caused by production issues and battery supply constraints. The automaker has not yet released the numbers of Cybertruck cars produced or delivered.
Cybertruck, with its unusual solutions, suffers from several original problems. In June, Tesla recalled some of these cars for inspection to fix problems with potentially loose trim pieces and windshield wipers that were at risk of failure.
Two months earlier, Tesla recalled some parts for inspection due to the risk that they could get stuck in the gas pedal. At the beginning of the year, the automaker recalled almost all of its electric cars, including cybertrucks, for inspection due to the size of the incorrect shape of the warning lights.
