(Elbil24): Barely two weeks ago came the news that Tesla is recalling 23,000 copies of the Model Y, after a fault in the steering wheel was discovered.

Now comes the news of a far more comprehensive recall; this time it is over 220,000 Tesla Model S and Model 3 that have been sold in Europe. For Model S, these will be cars produced in the period 2014-21 and for Model 3 in the period 2017-2021 (Model 3 first went on sale in 2019 in Norway).

according to Motor a weakness has been discovered in the locking mechanism of the hood, which makes the American traffic authorities fear that the hood may, in the worst case, open at speed.

Before Christmas, 120,000 were recalled in the United States due to the same circumstances.

According to the recall document, one of the two locks that keep the hood closed may be located too far back. If the first should fail, it is uncertain whether the second would be able to hold the hood in place due to the high air pressure.

Incidents where this has happened in Norway shall not be reported. Tesla Norway has not yet confirmed whether the recall includes cars sold in Norway, but the normal procedure in recall cases is that affected customers will be contacted directly.

Tesla also has one own page where you can enter the car’s VIN number to check if it is affected by the recalls.
