US electric car maker Tesla is recalling nearly 128,000 vehicles in China over a mistake that could lead to collisions. The Chinese regulator has announced this.

The cars affected by the recall in China have a “minor manufacturing defect” in a part of the inverter that controls power to the battery and electric motor, market regulator State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) reports. “In extreme cases, this increases the risk of an accident and can pose a hazard,” the statement said.
The recall concerns Tesla’s Model 3, manufactured between 2019 and 2022. The measure affects approximately 128,000 vehicles, including 93,578 manufactured at Tesla’s Shanghai plant.
Tesla has faced numerous complaints on social networks in China over alleged quality and service issues in recent months. In December, Tesla recalled nearly 200,000 vehicles in China for a defect in their trunks.
China is the main market for the brand. Elon Musk’s company built a massive factory in Shanghai in 2019, and a quarter of its total production is sold in the country.
