US electric car maker Tesla is recalling nearly 363,000 cars due to problems with driver assistant technology that increase crash risks, according to a statement from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), obtained by the AFP news agency.
This recall covers Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y vehicles manufactured between 2016 and 2023 and equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta technology.
To fix this problem, Tesla will release a software update that can be installed remotely.
Problems with the Full Self-Driving Beta system mean the cars are capable of executing maneuvers “that could violate traffic laws, increasing the risk of crashes if the driver does not intervene,” NHTSA said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to Twitter to agree with a user who points out that the term “recall” should not be used for problems that can be solved without major repairs.
