The US electric car manufacturer Tesla can be proud of excellent results – the results of the first half of 2023 show that Americans managed to sell more new electric cars than the famous German brands.
Bloomberg reports that in the first six months of 2023, Tesla strengthened its dominance in relation to German brands. The Americans have sold almost 890,000 cars, while Volkswagen has sold 321,600, BMW – 152,900, and Mercedes-Benz – 112,900. Thus, the grandiose plans of European concerns for dominance in this field are far from reality, and they are increasingly lagging behind Tesla.
Experts note that Tesla managed to overtake German manufacturers both in Europe and in the world’s largest market in China, where Tesla’s competitors are hindered by Elon Musk’s aggressive price reduction policy and its own software problems (Volkswagen).
This summer, Volkswagen had to cut production of the ID.4 and ID.7 in Emden, Germany, because demand lagged supply by about 30 percent.
Meanwhile, Tesla continues to keep pace with plans to expand the German Gigafactory and build a new Gigafactory in Mexico.
