In an effort to face economic headwinds and increasing competition
Tesla is offering discounts of more than $1,300 on some Model 3 cars in its inventory in the United States, after offering deeper discounts in Europe, according to a Reuters review of the company’s website.
The electric car manufacturer had raised its prices in the US market on most of the newly ordered cars this month.
Analysts said that Tesla has offered deep discounts on car prices this year in several regions, and that it is resorting to offering incentives to liquidate its inventory in an attempt to counter economic headwinds and increasing competition.
Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk told shareholders on Tuesday that Tesla will try advertising for its cars for the first time, a move analysts said could increase demand.
Tesla raised the prices of some new models slightly twice this month in the United States, but prices are still much lower than they were before the price cuts began this year.
Tesla prices in the United States for the Model 3 start at $40,240, while the Model Y starts at $47,490.
