Tesla has secured a large plot of land in Nevada from which it wants to mine lithium in a more environmentally friendly way than before. This land is supposed to have 10,000 acres (about 40.5 km

Some of these elements are also used in batteries, but the main problem is the further separation of components from lithium. All this makes the process complicated, inefficient (high lithium loss) and unfriendly to the environment.-

The new approach involves mixing lithium-rich soil with a source of cations, grinding it in a ball mill (PM100) and washing to form a solution containing a lot of lithium, which is heated to 90 ° C and later filtered. This source of cations can be different and just adding table salt (NaCl) looks quite promising. However, it does not have to be a single component, it can be a combination of other compounds, such as KCl, Na2SO4, K2SO4, MgSO4, Case4, NaNO3, KNO3, CaCL2, MgCl2, Ca(NO3)2 nebo Mg (NO)3)2. According to Tesla, the new procedure should be a bit more environmentally friendly and reduce the price of lithium by about a third. At the same time, the price of batteries should fall slightly again.
