Tesla Model Y – Revoked: Fault in steering

The EU’s Rapex system (Rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products) reports this. There is a weakness in a guide knot that allows it to break or become deformed under high load. This in turn will lead to reduced stability, loss of control over the car and increased risk of accidents, according to Rapex

In total, Tesla is recalling 23 437 Model Y for inspection and possible replacement of parts in the steering. The affected cars were manufactured between 16 June 2020 and 10 November 2021 – all at Tesla’s factory in China. It is also from here that all Norwegian Model Y came from the start until Tesla opened its new factory in Berlin, Germany a few weeks ago.

8300 cars in Norway

We have asked Tesla Norway how many cars are affected in Norway? If they start they plan to call the cars back to the garage? And if they have experienced any problems with the steering of cars in Norway?

NO COMMENT: We have asked Tesla Norway and communications manager Even Sandvoll Roland about how many Model Ys are affected in Norway, and whether any faults have been discovered on any of the cars.

We have received an answer from Tesla Norway which reads as follows:

– Thank you for your inquiry. Tesla does not want to comment on the matter.

In the period from June 2020 to the end of 2021, we know that 8,300 new Tesla Model Ys have been registered in Norway. All are manufactured in the factory in China. Whether all these cars are affected by the recall, we do not know. It is common for such recalls that the owners receive an e-mail with a summons to the workshop. We know that Tesla also has its own side (Tesla VIN Recall Search), where the owners themselves can enter the so-called VIN number on the car to check if it is affected by the recall.
