The electric Tesla Model Y has become the most popular car in Europe in 2023. Here we are talking not only about electric cars, but about all cars together, that is, Model Y has surpassed all cars with an internal combustion engine. Such data has been collected by the company Dataforce.
The data includes the members of the European Union, the European Free Trade Association (Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland), as well as Great Britain. In these countries, Model Y sold 254,822 units. The closest follower is the Dacia Sandero with 235,893 cars sold.

One of the keys to the success of the Model Y is the price reductions – Tesla diligently reduced the prices of the cars throughout the year, which of course makes them more attractive in the eyes of customers. If we follow sales data throughout the year, the results of the Model Y are no surprise – it was the best-selling car in seven out of 12 months.
Among the best-selling cars of the year, the Volkswagen T-Roc is in 3rd place, followed by several superminis – Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, and Opel Corsa, while the VW Golf 8 is only in 7th place. Toyota Yaris Cross, VW Tiguan can be found behind it, and Škoda Octavia completes the top ten best-selling cars.
