Tesla Model S Plaid Track Package sets new record as fastest production electric car on Nurburgring

A month ago, Tesla announced the release of the Track Package version of the Model S Plaid, which finally brought the corrections necessary for this 1,020 hp sedan to be able to control its immense power in a decent manner. Because previously hundreds of voices said about this electric car, that it would be brilliant at acceleration in a straight line, but the brakes melt immediately, and the heavy weight inevitably gave the physical effect of being difficult to control in turns. Now this new electric version has set a new record on the Nurburgring.

First of all the Model S Plaid Track Package received ceramic brakes, which no longer overheat and can keep the car in check, which allows braking much later before a turn and thus obtaining better times on the circuit. Secondly, the car is 100 kg lighter than a normal Plaid, thanks to the denser batteries, which offer the same capacity, but are lighter. And, on top of all that, the car’s top speed was increased to 330 km/h, so over 200 miles per hour.

With these updates, all Tesla fans were also waiting for the circuit records of the new version. And tonight Tesla announced with great pomp that the Model S Plaid Track Package set the record for the fastest production electric car on the Nurburgring, recording a time of 7:25.23.

For comparison, the previous result belonged to him Porsche Taycan Turbo S and it had been established in August 2022, being 7:33.3. So, Tesla smashed Porsche this time with a major difference of 12 seconds, a record that will be hard to beat by Porsche already. But that’s until Rimac Nevera comes to the circuit, probably.
