Tesla Model S Plaid set a new record at the Nürburgring, Porsche shared 12 seconds

The S Plaid surpassed the Porsche Taycan by less than 12 seconds and set a record for the fastest production electric car.

The record-breaking drive of the Tesla Model S Plaid at the famous Nürburgring was first discussed in 2019, when the carmaker was supposed to set a time of around 7 minutes and 23 seconds. At that time, however, these were unofficial results achieved with the development prototype. But the development is over, the Plaid version is for sale, so it’s time for an official attempt.

The carmaker had to use a completely standard Model S Plaid for it without any changes – exactly as it left the factory. At least that’s what Elon Musk says on Twitter, who also boasted the results of two races. In one car he reached a time of 7: 35.579, but in the record he already covered the circuit in 7: 30.909 at an average speed of 166,320 km / h.
