A modernized Tesla Model 3 has been rumored for a long time and this future car has its own project name – Project Highland. Apparently, Tesla has completed the development work and will go on sale in China this month with a modernized, facelifted Model 3 version. In preparation for the sale of the improved model, Tesla is offering various promotions to its customers in China in an effort to sell off the cars that are already in production and in stock. For example, a 1,000-euro subsidy is offered for the purchase of insurance and a roughly 500-euro bonus if you choose a car that has already been produced. The Chinese are not in a hurry to buy the current Model 3 anyway, if the modernized variant is expected very soon.
Although the car has not officially gone on sale yet, some Tesla representatives have already started accepting orders. Chinese media recently reported that Tesla’s factory in Shanghai has already started trial production of the improved Model 3 and that mass production and deliveries should begin very soon.
Some time ago, Tesla changed the planned delivery time in China for Model 3 manufacturers intended for the European market – if previously the delivery of the car was predicted, for example, in August, then it was postponed to October.
So far, there is little clear information on what we can expect from the Project Highland Model 3, but it is clear that the changes on the outside will be cosmetic, and the interior will also be new. It is believed that the production of this car will be cheaper, which could mean a lower final price, but these are rumors for now.
