Almost out of nowhere, the news appeared on Tuesday morning: Norway‘s best-selling car will now be available in a seven-seater variant.

Tesla has been talking about a 7-seater Model Y since before the car’s launch, but until now it has been conspicuous by its absence from the European market.
We actually didn’t think it would be launched until after the model’s mid-life refresh, which is now expected after the New Year, but now you can order it. Admittedly only in conjunction with the best-selling Long Range four-wheel drive version.
The price increase is technically NOK 23,500 – but in practice it depends a little on how you hit the VAT limit with accessories. As you know, anything over NOK 500,000 on a new electric car comes with a VAT of 25 percent.
Add two more sets
Tesla uses the good luggage space in the car to install two additional seats that can be tilted up. These are traditional forward seats, not the front seats that have been available for the Model S.
As with all cars of this size, the third row of seats is particularly suitable for relatively small children, perhaps emergency seats for adults on short journeys.
The seats can be raised individually. Tesla’s official measurements show that there is 35 percent less legroom in the back row of seats.
Offers 101 liters of luggage space
According to Tesla, you have 363 liters of luggage space behind the third row of seats if you have the two extra seats up.

If the two rear seats are folded down, you are left with 753 liters of space behind the second row of seats, which is 101 liters less than in the 5-seater version.
Model Y with five seats: Beyond the additional seats – and the price increase you have to pay – there are almost no major changes to the car. Tesla even states the same range of 533 kilometers.
NB! This is not a US imported car. The car is manufactured at the Tesla factory in Berlin.
