Tesla improves Model S and X performance with new update

Car and Driver’s Model S Performance test was carried out twice. The first time before the update, in February, during a duel against the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, then a second time after the deployment of the “Cheetah Stance” update. If the Model S, before the update, was ahead of the Taycan at up to 60 km / h, the latter was ahead to pass the 100 km / h mark first, just 0.1 seconds faster than its rival.

The gap is very small, but where the Model S was really less efficient was on the endurance side. After two trials from 0 to 100 km / h, the Model S saw its time increase significantly, going from 2.5 seconds to almost 7 seconds in the 6th test, then stabilizing at around 6 seconds on the subsequent attempts (15 in all).

Meanwhile, the Taycan goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.4 seconds 9 times in a row before releasing a few tenths on the following tests while remaining around 3.5 seconds. And these results are similar on the ¼ mile test (around 402 meters) where the goal is to complete the distance as quickly as possible. The Taycan remains stable on the clock when the Model S collapses at the same rate as for 0 to 100 km / h.
