Since the beginning of the year, Elon Musk and Tesla have attracted a lot of attention with constant price increases.
Tesla has not been a stranger to price changes over the years, but this year they have really hit home.
So far this year, the electric car giant has implemented seven price increases on the Model 3 and Model Y models, according to the website Electrek.

The Model 3 Standard Range Plus, Tesla’s cheapest model, increased from $ 37,000 to $ 40,000 in February. This is a price increase of eight percent.
Another model, the Model Y Long Range AWD, cost $ 50,000 at the beginning of the year. Today it is 52,000.
Answer
The price increases themselves are not the big ones, but if you add them together it becomes noticeable. This has led many to question the constant price increase in recent months.
Tesla has not previously commented on the price increase, but after receiving complaints on Twitter, Elon Musk has taken the time to explain.
– Prices have increased due to great price pressure from suppliers in the car industry, Musk explains according to Electrek.
The prices of raw materials in particular have risen, claims the Tesla owner.
For example, the prices of copper have more than doubled since the beginning of the pandemic last year, the website states.
Other important materials in the industry, such as steel and aluminum, have also had a large price increase in the last year.
Differences
When it comes to Tesla in the Norwegian market, they rose sharply last autumn, including the flagship models Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X. Several of Tesla’s models increased by NOK 54,000 overnight.
– I do not want to go into the background for what is due to the price increase. What I can say is that, like other car manufacturers, we regularly make price changes, Even Sandvold Roland, communications manager at Tesla Norway, told Nettavisen at the time.
Since then, prices have increased even more and the Tesla Model S Long Range now costs NOK 829,990, compared to NOK 790,232 in November last year. and the Tesla Model X Long Range cost NOK 949,990, compared to NOK 918,232 last year.
In April this year, however, Tesla lowered the price of the Model 3 Standard Range Plus, with a price cut of 12.5 percent, according to tek.no.
The reason has not been stated by Tesla Norway itself, but according to the technology website, figures show that sales of the model have slowed down. In the first week of April, 2,568 new Model 3 cars were registered in Norway so far in 2021, of which 115 were two-wheel drive variants, ie Standard Range Plus.
Throughout last year, the number was 304 out of a total of 7770 Model 3, ie less than four percent.
