That’s kind of the nature of the beast. In addition, a union in Europe behaves very differently from a union in the US which has only fueled opposition to unions in the US.
Just like the preference for building wooden houses, the preference for ever-increasing volumes in house building, ICE motorbike, car, plastic breasts, etc. There are a lot of differences in views between the US and Europe. If you do business smartly in the US, don’t assume that the same method of doing business will yield the same success.
Personally, I think Europe is doing better. The ultra-capitalist approach ultimately produces the same result as the ultra-communist approach. Too much wealth with a group that is far too small and a very large group of very dissatisfied population. The two advantages of capitalism is that it takes longer to get the same result and that capitalism is easier to “sell” to the average population through the hope of a rich life for yourself and/or your children through hard work.
The truth, as always, lies somewhere in the middle. Europe does a lot of things very wrong, but does better in this area than the US And yes, working hard and being rewarded for it, there is nothing bad to say about that. But if you are of low birth and work like a madman in the US, you may think you are rich, but you only got to “sniff” what wealth is once. AND you will probably end up in the hospital because of this and your wealth that you have worked for years for is wiped away within a week or two.
Anyway, there is a big difference in thinking between the US and Europe. The “me, me, me” way of doing things in the US doesn’t work as well in Europe. Where in the last century a more “we, us, we” way of thinking was used in Europe, that is also increasingly changing to “me, me, me” and the gap between rich and poor has only widened and quality of life in general has not improved since then.
From what I understand, unions are state by state, while in Europe it is national. That makes the union story in the US even harder to sell tye than it already is.
