The electric car giant reports delivery of 201,000 cars in the second quarter. Analysts expected advance delivery of 207,000 cars, according to CNBC.
The company also reports on the production of 206,000 cars, of which 204,000 of the Model 3 and Y models, which are considered to be some of the company’s more “affordable” models. A little over 2,000 were also produced by Model S and X, the company writes.
Beat old record
The second quarter figures set the previous record set in the first quarter, when they delivered 185,000 cars.
The company reports that the second quarter was characterized by a shortage of car parts and price increases, which was the case for most car companies. Executive Vice President Elon Musk wrote in a Twitter message in May that Tesla has made some changes related to design to avoid drastic price increases on cars, and that the price increases are due to a large increase in the price of materials.
