It is not yet known when the wedge-shaped pick-up will be available. In November 2019, Musk already showed a prototype of the special vehicle, made of sleek stainless steel panels. The car would go into production two years later, but this was postponed several times.
Earlier this year, Musk already tempered expectations for production. He said the radical design presented challenges. The pick-up’s stainless steel body is not only expensive, but also difficult to shape and weld, according to the CEO.
“We will make as many as people want and can afford,” Musk said. According to him, it is difficult to keep costs down, “because it is a new car with a new production method.” Nevertheless, the Cybertruck is “still very cool”, says the Tesla CEO.
