THREE VERSIONS – Only a few days have passed since the deliveries of the Tesla Cybertruck, assigned to the first owners after a long wait (here is the news). The first units of the American electric pickup were all exemplary Cyberbeasti.e. the most powerful and expensive three-engine version (845 CV and the equivalent of 92,300 euros), capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and withautonomy of 515 km. A second variant, again with all-wheel drive, will arrive during 2024: it will have 600 CV of power, a declared autonomy of 547 km and costs 79,990 dollars (73,800 euros). Later, in 2025, the Cybertruck range will be completed with the arrival of the basic version, rear-wheel drive, available at 60,990 dollars (56,300 euros) and with 402 km of autonomy. In the meantime, Tesla has released three official videos of the new vehicle, each of which tells a peculiar characteristic of the mammoth pick up 568 cm long, 241 cm wide and 179 cm high.
BULLETPROOF – When unveiling the Tesla CybertrcukCEO Elon Musk, promised that the pickup would be bulletproof, but when an object was thrown against the side window it broke. In the video above, a Tesla representative says he has already tested the body of the Cybertruck in collisions with a shopping cart and a hammer. Although the pickup was not designed to be bullet resistant, the American company still decided to give it a try. The 1.8 mm body panels can withstand the bullets of a “Tommy Gun”, which leave their mark without penetrating the passenger compartment and allow the side windows to function without problems. The same thing happens with i 9 mm bullets fired from a Glock. Even the pellets coming from a Benelli M4 are blocked by the steel of the Cybertruck: only one of these, which arrives at the same point already hit, manages to pierce the bodywork, without however causing damage to the interior of the passenger compartment. Tesla also tries to shoot another pickup, with decidedly less comforting results.
TOWING CAPACITY – In the second video (above), the towing capacities of the Tesla Cybertruck are compared with those of other very popular pickups in the United States: a Ford F-150 Lightning, the Rivian R1T (both considered direct rivals of the Cybertruck), and a diesel Ford F-350. The four vehicles are called a tow as much as possible a heavy machinery which slowly shifts its weight towards the front, gradually increasing the difficulty. The F-150 Lighning stops after 63 meters, the R1T after just under 84 meters, the diesel F-350 just exceeds 80 meters, while the Cyberbeast has the upper hand above all, reaching 97 metres.
ACCELERATION – The third film (above) shows off the muscles of Tesla Cybertruck in a drag race with one of the cars that distances itself the most from the concept of the American electric pick-up: one Porsche 911. But to make things even more intriguing, the Cybertrcuk enters the race by towing on a cart…another 911. Needless to say, it is the pick-up that wins and, together with the heavy load on the back, crosses the finish line 400 meters from the start with a slight advantage over the German sports car.
